Alba Cinnamon Hot Chocolate

Velvety, spiced comfort in a cup
There’s hot chocolate. And then there’s the version that takes it further. It’s rich, indulgent, and gently spiced with hand-rolled Alba cinnamon. This recipe leans into warmth and nostalgia, turning a familiar favourite into something quietly luxurious.
Infused with nutmeg, real chocolate, and a swirl of cinnamon, this drink is made for slow sips on cold evenings. It’s the kind of treat you want by the fire, at a holiday table, or when the day calls for comfort in a cup.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole milk (or your favourite dairy-free alternative)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 Flavahs Alba cinnamon quills
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- ½ cup chocolate chips (dark or semi-sweet)
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (Optional)
- Whipped cream, for topping
- Grated chocolate or additional cinnamon, for garnish
- Cinnamon quills, for serving (optional)
Instructions:
Infuse the Base
In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, and cinnamon quills. Heat gently over low to medium heat until steaming. Stir occasionally and avoid boiling. Let it steep for 5 to 7 minutes.
Add the Spice
Stir in the nutmeg and let the mixture simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes. This allows the flavours to come together and deepen.
Melt the Chocolate
Whisk in the cocoa powder until fully dissolved. Add the chocolate chips and stir until melted and smooth.
Finish with Vanilla
Take the pan off the heat. Remove the cinnamon quills and stir in the vanilla extract (optional)
Serve with Intention
Pour into mugs. Top with whipped cream and finish with a sprinkle of cocoa, grated chocolate, or a cinnamon quill for extra aroma.

Why Alba Cinnamon Is the Right Choice for This Recipe
Hot chocolate is about texture and balance. It should be rich but smooth, sweet but never cloying. When working with real chocolate and warming spices, the cinnamon needs to blend in without taking over.
Cassia brings a sharp, woody intensity that often clashes with milk-based drinks. It can leave behind a bitterness that dulls the cocoa. Alba cinnamon is different. Its soft, floral notes gently enhance the chocolate and nutmeg without overshadowing them.
In this slow-infused recipe, Alba releases a clean, rounded flavour that complements the cream and chocolate beautifully. The result is a warm, aromatic cup that soothes rather than overwhelms.
If you want your hot chocolate to feel luxurious and layered, this is the cinnamon that belongs in it.
